I know that this might be a tall order given everything going on... I’m nervous about him having trouble making new friends with Covid restrictions. I feel bad because we have our set community up here, but he will have to start new in Gville/Archer area during this weird time. I’d love to find some way for him to meet other kids arm round his age! TIA

I am sad to be leaving my wonderful network of moms in Canada, but excited to meet some new moms in the area. I have a 4 year old boy and I'm due with number 2 in Feb. I'll be staying at home until at least August, but then I hope to go back to work as a scientist provided I can find a job! Most everyone on this site seems to live in NW Gville. If you do live in SW Gville, can you provide recommendations for pre-K, doctors, etc? Are there established playdate groups in the area already? Thanks for any and all the information I get :)Laura M. replied:I use Dr. Stephanie Ryan at UF Pediatrics (corner of Tower Rd and Archer Rd- near you) for my 4 year old and 9 month old, and am very happy with her. I do not know of any PCPs for the entire family...at least not with smaller children. There are a number of schools offering pre-k...I would suggest checking out fun4 gatorkids.com (they have a FB page too). They have a list of all of the pre-schools/daycare facilities. My children are at Kid Works at Tioga, and we love it!

They are a fairly new practice, but very friendly and honest about what work needs to be done vs what to keep an eye out for. My 5 year old daughter loves going to Gainesville Rock Gym, Bouncin' Big in Newberry and the Museum of Natural History. Gainesville also has a ton of great parks. We use Gainesville Pediatric Associates (Drs. Boon & Grooms) and Kid's Only Dental Place. My son, Jackson, was born with a cleft lip and we have also spent a ton of time in the UF Pediatric Dental Clinic for his NAM device when he was an infant.
