  Unless something has changed in the past year, the Doughnut Cafe's "beignets" are just square doughnuts with powdered sugar on top. They are NOT like Cafe du Monde's beignets, which are made with a special choux pastry dough. If you want the real deal, you'll have to go to Jackson Square in New Orleans or pick up the Cafe du Monde mix as mentioned above to make your own at home. Lagniappe Specialty Meats on Jefferson Avenue also carries the beignet mix. They have the best Cajun meats and product selection around. I won't get my steaks anywhere else.
