Or garage door is having difficulty closing. The light blinks and it takes anywhere from 3 to 12 tries to shut it with the car clicker. Does anyone know of someone in town that could help?

If it's not the sensors, it could be that your track is slightly too tight--that happened to us around this time last year. We used Overhead Doors, recommended to us on this site. Haven't had a problem since.

Mine was doing exactly what you describe for a while and I did all the things other people have suggested in this thread and none of them resolved the problem. I finally called Overhead Door company in SF and they came up and fixed it permanently. The sensors were shot, the whole thing need work and we ended up having the opener itself replaced. It ran about $500 for everything which I thought was ridiculous, but typical for a home visit for any company that has to come up here from anywhere else and, in the final analysis, relatively cheap if you consider that a good garage door will set you back several thousand bucks. Plus, it's really nice to have it working again! The guy from OD was really excellent, professional and knew what he was doing. Highly recommend them!

Garage doors can be dangerous to try to fix yourself. Those loaded springs can be deadly. We have used Overhead Door before, they are great!
