From Chicago, been working at a winery for a couple months and my father is coming to visit on Friday. Would greatly appreciate some restaurant recommendations for downtown SF. (Specifications on restaurant type in comments.) I'm looking for a classy steak house-ish restaurant. Not super formal and boring, something that I can wear dark jeans and a button down to. Something hip and lively, maybe with TV's and a sports bar, but more importantly not a restaurant with a quiet atmosphere and the patrons are a bunch of 60 year olds.
Really I just want a place that I can get great food at, preferably with a good steak, and a lively atmosphere. Price of meal doesn't matter, and because papa bear is buying something higher end would be preferred.
All comments/suggestions are much appreciated!

I'm vegetarian but I took some meat-and-potatoes partners from my firm to Town Hall downtown (http://townhallsf.com) and we were all happy. Not a sports bar, but meets all your other criteria. It's hip, lively, and also a bit southern-inspired which may have been why I liked it.
