  I used Derek Walker, Acumen Inspections: http://www.acumeninspections.com/ I actually received the recommendation off Reddit about 1 year ago. He is super thorough. Whoever you hire, make sure you ask to join them during the inspection if possible as a learning opportunity. I attended the inspection with Derek (~2 hrs or so, depends on size of house), and as a new homeowner, I learned a ton. I'd recommend him. Edit - I think the cost was around $300
