I'm a dreadfully boring Canadian 24/F spending a day in Amsterdam solo. Any food/beer/museum recommendations? I'm planning to spend a day in Amsterdam on my way from Thailand to Toulouse, France in early October.
I'm a fairly tame individual and have a nervous predisposition, so I'm planning to stay at a hotel near the airport so I don't worry about missing my flight. My main excursion is probably going to be the Anne Frank museum (is there a travel planner website for public transit in Amsterdam?)
I'm not really into doing drugs alone.
But beer is nice.
So are museums and bread and cheese.
Do you guys have any recommendations for me? Is there a nice field where I can read a book and eat cheese and watch Amsterdam do it's Amsterdam thing?
I'm aware that it might be sweater whether or rainy. In the event that it isn't nice out what should I do instead?

My favourite restaurant/café in Amsterdam is [Toos & Roos](http://www.toosenroos.nl/en/home/). They have great soups and simple sandwiches... always delicious in my view. It's about 600 metres (5 minute walk) from the Anne Frank House and is definitely worth it.
