  Boat history detective time! I'm trying to find out some history of my wee boat, as so far in all the paperwork the only information is builder unknown; built circa 1996. Some folk think she's a Springer but does anyone know how I'd find out exactly when and where she was built and by whom? Fascinating so far looking up the history of Springers. Also fascinating is she's apparently had 4 names registered on the same boat index number, each with slightly different lengths recorded! . Originally Tilia at 35 ft, she's now The Adventura at 33ft. Here's a picture of an old photo I found on the boat when I moved in - she looks very different now! Any guesses or tips on where to look from you knowledgable folk?

  Can anyone advise how far we could cruise from stourport on Severn on a short break? We've hired for a Monday-Friday break to give my OH a taste of narrowboat life (we have a ocean going motor sailer as our own boat) and looking at routes. The Droitwich Ring looked a possibility but maybe too short (one website says you can do it all in 2 days) Otherwise I was looking at Gloucester/back but is that too far to be achievable? Hoping some people who have cruised the area or reside there will know or have other suggestions? It's just the two of us in a 60ft boat

During the film the characters will partake in a journey from the canals around Paddington and make their way to The Wash via the River Nene and past Peterborough. We are in the process of looking at the logistics of this journey and I was wondering if anyone in this group would be able to suggest any companies who might hire a canal boat for the duration of the filming, and any companies where we might be able to hire a pilot for this journey. We are also looking to find basic logistics such as width of canal etc. The director is also looking to make this journey himself to scout locations so if anyone could suggest anyone to hire that'd be great also.   A good site to route plan with is http://canalplan.org.uk there are tons of boat hire firms, black prince are but one. Lots of boat movers about as well. I am sure someone will offer via here. Sounds like you are on it but check insurances etc. good luck
