  Sushi Dokoro Shirahama is the best sushi in SD in my opinion, though not very well known. http://www.sushidokoro-shirahama.com/ The owner and chef has been featured in a number of magazines. It's authentic Japanese style, and is very small and quiet. Omakase is the way to go, you'll spend about as much as you would at Ota.
