  Can anyone recommend a reliable and not costly muffler shop within the city limits? Appears the noise I've been hearing last few days has been confirmed by 'outside' ears, that it's probably muffler and just hope that is all! If it's the catalytic converter than that is an entirely different can of worms and an expenditure I can't handle right now! BTW, it's for a PT Cruiser. Thanks in advance!

  Try Cabrales Auto Repair - not muffler specialists but excellent auto service overall and they will tell you if/when there's a job they can't do AND they'll refer you to a reliable shop who can do the work. Been going there for years now - referred by someone who takes her dad's Lincoln, her Lexus and all of her family's vehicles to them. Very inexpensive and absolutely great service - 8437 S. Commercial, 773.731.4218. They also have other locations (run by various family members) - this is the original.
