  I recommend [McLeod Construction](http://www.mcleodconstruction.com). Not exactly independent, but a local construction business based in North Seattle. They recently replaced all of the patios on our multi-story 100+ unit condominium complex, replaced the windows and repaired the building envelope. I always call them when I need something done like drywall work. Very professional and do very good work.
