I've been looking for the best mexican food in the area. So far, here's what I've come up with La Loma near Capitol Hill is good, cheap Tex-Mex food and stays pretty consistent. One of the few places I've been able to find the liquid queso that my American palate is accustomed to.
El Sol over near Shaw/Logan Circle has more authentic food and makes excellent salsas in house, but I do wish they had more diversity in the burrito department. Overall, their quality is decent. I do think I prefer their food truck, though.
El Chucho is great hipster mexican food in Columbia Heights. Their street corn is fantastic. My biggest gripe is that it's pretty expensive for what you get.
Thoughts? I've only been in the area for a year and I'm always on the hunt for something new.

Not metro accessible, but [Villamaya Restaurant](http://www.villamayarestaurant.com/) in Rockville is really good. My friend from Texas says it's authentic.
