In need of an honest, reliable mechanic from my 2002 Toyota Corolla in Palatine. Please recommend me one. So I had a mechanic for a long time who recently moved out of state and now I have car problems but no mechanic. I don't like dealerships or chain places (such as jiffy lube, merlin, etc) because they're extreme rip-offs. Is anyone a mechanic or does anyone know a local mechanic who is honest and doesn't rip people off? Please PM me recommendations and contact information. This is what I need done:
* Full synthetic oil and filter change
* Rear brakes are screeching and I think it's the adjuster so need to replace shoes, drums, and hardware for both rear brakes (I know pads and rotors are good)
* Check engine light is on (code is P0446 for evap vent control and I think it's probably a leaking hose or the pressure sensor switching valve, VSV, that needs to be replaced)

Glenview is a bit of a hike for you, but [Clavey Auto](http://claveyauto.com/) on Chestnut is a solid family-run auto shop. Been taking my cars there for 10 years. It's not Palatine, but hey, I know what I know.
