Any recommendations for historic hotels with nice bars? I'm going to be in San Francisco for one night on the weekend of November 11, and I was looking to stay in a unique/historic hotel, hopefully with an interesting bar. Budget is very flexible, and I'd like to be relatively central or close to easy transit.
Any recommendations? Weird places are welcome. And I've never been to SF before, if that matters.

The Big 4 restaurant/bar is super awesome. It's definitely unique and historic. It's in the Huntington Hotel. I think it is perfect for what you're looking for... http://www.thescarlethotels.com/huntington-hotel-san-francisco/ http://www.big4 restaurant.com/

Strongly agree that the Huntington and the Palace are what you're looking for. Note that the bar at the Huntington (The Big 4) is charming and wonderful with friendly staff, a piano player, and good drinks, while the bar at the Palace (the Pied Piper Bar) is mediocre at best and has TVs in it, but has a very cool painting. I end up at the Big 4 about 10 x as often as the bar at the Palace. The bar at the Clift (the Redwood Room) is worth a visit for the amazing woodwork, but turns very clubby on weekends. If those end up too expensive the Hotel Rex is historical, less luxurious, smaller, well-located, with a library-themed bar.
