  Take a look at http://www.villagehostel.fr/ in montmartre. I stayed in a few bad/seedy/overpriced hostels in Paris. This was the best one I found. I also have heard good things about Three Ducks.

  I always recommend this place in Paris: http://www.villagehostel.fr/ Excellent location, right at the foot of the hill and very near a metro stop. Staying in Montmartre is generally cheaper than the more central arrondissements. I didn't really spend any time in the hostel, but it had everything I needed and the dorms had a very homey, cozy feel. Three years ago it was one of the cheapest options.
