I am looking for a practice that either does in-house insurance or is willing to work with me at least a bit without having to book and pay for appointments myself.   If you don't want to do the dental school route (which is probably the cheapest), Auraria Dental (http://denversdentaloasis.com/index.html) is very affordable. They will work with you to try to make it more affordable. I've been to Dentists before that look at every tooth as a money-making exercise, but here they seem like that are actually very focused on dental care.
