Dorothy Phelan was Born & raised in Madison, along with her 4 brothers and 6 sisters. She graduated from St Bernard’s, East High School and the UW Madison with a BS in Nursing. While at the UW, she played on the first women’s varsity soccer team and managed the Wisconsin United Women’s Club team for many years.
After working in Pediatrics, NICU and PICU for many years, her interest in buying income property lead her to becoming a Realtor in 1996. After working for the Stark Company and other brokers, she became a broker and opened Rainbow Realty in 1999. Since that time she has obtained further education in Buyer Agency, became a Certified Residential Specialist (CRS) and Certified Distressed Property Expert (CDPE).
Dorothy is an avid pottery lover and past president of the Wisconsin Pottery Association. She also worked for an antique auctioneer, studying antiques and collectibles and enjoys helping clients with estate sales when needed.
Dorothy is married to John Russ, a carpenter, has a daughter Jenny, a teacher, a son-in-law, Shawn & 2 cute smart and sassy grandchildren Braden 14 and Kaelin 12.
She especially enjoys working with people and participating in the excitement of finding and selling great homes for them. It reminds her of being in the delivery room while a child is being born. It is truly a monumental event in people’s lives and she feels privileged to share it with them.
