Best affordable vegan meal delivery? Online grocery? Hey guys! I was vegetarian for years and after watching dominion I’ve finally decided to ditch all animal products. What are your guys’ favorite recipes? Ones that are easy? (Mushrooms scare me so for now.. no fungi)
I live in northern Indiana so I don’t have as many places to purchases vegan groceries so, are there any online groceries or AFFORDABLE vegan meal delivery services? Think something like hello fresh.
I know there’s a lot of info on this subreddit regarding this stuff but I’m just curious what you guys have had luck with and what you guys prefer or stuff you don’t recommend.
Thank you in advance!!!

Advent calendar!! My wife LOVED advent calendars growing up and I have never been able to find her a good or affordable one. Does anyone know of any vegan advent calendars? I'm in MD if you're gonna suggest grocery stores, it might be different from where you are :)
charleybradburies replied:
Are you thinking chocolate Advent calendars? I know there are many types but that's what it sounds like. I'm in MD too but I don't know any place that for sure will have that - perhaps the Mom's organic Market? There used to be a shop in Rockville that might have been somewhere to sell something like those but it's closed now. Veganessentials.com or Etsy may have something?
Has anyone tried Violife cheese and if so do you know where I can find it, online or otherwise?
Carol F. replied:
I just tried their Gouda and Parmesan block and loved them both ( I just happened to be in Florida last weekend and bought them at a vegan restaurant that carries them). http://www.veganessentials.com/ has them and will ship to you.
A while ago I got asian vegan ham from a big chinese market in Boston. It came as a frozen roll and is a lot better than the vegan ham they have at whole foods and shaws. Has any one tried it? Does anyone know where to get vegan asian ham in RI?
Okay, WHERE can I get vegan shrimp?! I am so bummed my friend in South Bay says Whole Foods. I have been to four different ones, no cigar! I need ceviche back :(
Kira D. replied:
I got these at veganessentials.com, haven't used them yet but I heard they are very good.
I’ve been craving sour cream and onion chips lately! In the past I use to order it offline, but does anyone know if there is a local store that sells the vegan ones?
Jessica S. replied:
You can probably get them on www.veganessentials.com

Try ordering from the veganstore.com (link in my post above) or from veganessentials.com. They each carry Chao and Daiya Cheese. They mail everything with freezer packs.
New vegan here....Can anyone suggest some vegan cheeses that doesn't taste like cardboard and ass? I don't mind buying from the internet.
Jessika L. replied:
I'm in love with the new Field Roast Chao and i hear the new Follow Your Heart brand stuff is great. A lot comes down to personal preference. For example you said no cardboard or ass flavors but Daiya was recommended, which I think is made out of actual cardboard and ass lol. You can get a lot if fancier stuff at whole foods and veganessentials.com
I don't recommend ordering from food fight vegan grocery store. I had a bad experience and horrible customer service. They were out of stock with two items I ordered after I already paid and they were so rude like it was my fault. What vegan online store do you recommend ?
Carol H. replied:
I've had great service with www.veganessentials.com
Does anyone know if any local stores sell Clear Conscience contact solution or another cruelty-free brand? I've been ordering online for the last several years and always cringe at the cost of shipping. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
Sorry not directly about diet but does anybody know where I can get clothing with the vegan slogans on like freelee wears the yoga/workout pants with vegan on or the shirts /sports bras?
Veggie T. replied:
Veganessentials.com... but if you don't live in the US it's a no unless you don't have to pay extra charges. If I got one I would have to pay $35 on top of the actual shirt I wanted :(
Sabina L. replied:
My shirt from veganessentials.com was $36, including shipping costs. I live in Sweden. Easy, fast and cheap. (You can find my earlier post where I show the shirt) I'm also looking for more fun vegan shirts! :)
Starting my bronze vegan pledge on friday (no money to do a shop till then). So excited. Then will do silver after that, then gold, then hopefully be vegan for life. I just have a few questions. 1) what in your opinion is the best milk alternative? Soya? Rice? What about brands and flavours? 2) where can i buy miso paste and nutritional yeast extract? 3)what did you find easiest and hardest in your first week of veganism? Thanks everyone :-) ps im from uk x
Terri M. replied:
I love the dark chocolate almond milk. Wow it is sooooo good. You can get miso paste and nutritional yeast in stores or order online from places like www.bobsredmill.com and www.veganessentials.com. They will ship anywhere.
im having a hard time finding vegan friendly items in the US... the health food stores here dont carry much.uugghh... does anyone know of a site online i can order from that might carry some items i am looking for???
Sonja I. replied:
Where do you live? I live in LA and have no problems with finding stuff in stores. I presume you are in a smaller town, so try these websites: http://www.veganstore.com/ http://www.veganessentials.com/
We're looking for shops - not restaurants - which are completely 'animal-free' - run by vegans and only stocking vegan products. We know of ten in the UK ... see below ... you can add restaurants etc. to the previous thread, but what about shops?
Carrie W. replied:
The only shops in the US that I'm aware of are online only. Such as, veganessentials.com and veganstore.com.
Courtney L. replied:
Vegan Essentials is almost online only. If you call ahead, you can stop in and pick up orders or try on merchandise. Between 12 and 6 pm weekdays.
Hello! I am making the transition from Vegetarian to Vegan and am having difficulty maintaining lean muscle mass. Can anyone please recommend a supplement or protein shake that is Vegan, but not soy? Everything I am finding seems to derive the protein from whey or soy. I don't want to get so much of my proteon from one source (soy) but is that my only option? Any help is appreciated!
Mara O. replied:
Check out www.veganessentials.com for some non-soy protein substitutes!
