About us
My name is Steve Crowley, I am a photographer that lives and works in Sacramento CA area.
I studied fine art and photography at San Jose State University in 1989 to 1990. After leaving school, I started working for a mixture of companies, from small start-up to large companies like Oracle Software. I perused a career in software sales. During this time in the Bay Area, I really never took my photography and fine art very seriously, but I always loved looking and seeing things in a very visual way. In 2006 I left my lucrative career in sales and the dog-eat-dog world of Silicon Valley and pursue passion and something I always loved: photography and art.
I knew I was ready for something that would bring more joy and meaning to my life.
I love being able to use my photography skills and abilities to capture the “inner essence” of my subjects…a valuable skill in portraiture. So, I went back to school to at Consumes River College (CRC) in south Sacramento and City College. I studied there for the past several years, digital photography and graphic design. While studying at CRC I won the Outstanding Photography Student Award for both years 2009 and 2010.
My work experience in photography has been quite varied. I worked for the Triple “A” baseball team The River Cats, in Sacramento. I have been working for the Elk Grove Citizen Newspaper as a photographer since October 2010. I also do freelance work for other local newspapers, Land Park News, Pocket News, East Sacramento News, Arden Carmichael News, and the Capitol Weekly. Aside from my work for the paper, I have a photography business, Photos By Crowley. I specialize in weddings, portraits, events, and work with small businesses and their photography needs.
My areas of photography and design expertise are in Photography, Photoshop, Light-room, Mac and Windows, Illustrator, In Design, and studio lighting.
Away from work, I enjoy spending time with my family, friends and taking care of my two Chihuahuas, Lupita and... show more Oliver.
