  I'm looking for a good mechanic in or near Beechmont since mine is no longer in business. I've heard Jay Barker's is good. Can anyone confirm this or have a better recommendation? I think my alternator is getting ready to bite the dust. I can usually do small repairs on my own but when it comes something like this, I'd rather take it to a professional. Preferably someone that won't jerk me around.

  Not sure how close you want the mechanic to be but I use Barnes Auto Service on Bishop Ln (just off Poplar Level near I264). I love that they actually take the time to listen to me when I describe what the car is doing. They talk to me in terms I understand when explaining the problem. Recently I made the mistake of getting a quote for some work at a place closer to home. Uncomfortable with the quote I went ahead and had Barnes look at it.
