'The sense one has upon first meeting a person that the two of you are inevitably going to fall in love.'
Photography started out like this for me. When I was a child, maybe 7 or 8 years old, I picked up my mothers camera and upon taking my first photo immediately felt 'Koi No Yokan'.
In Japan, 'Yokan' means Premonition, and in this way my first experience with photography could be described as having a premonition that I would one day fall in love with it. There was a spark, and through this steady journey fueled by that spark, I began to fall in love with photography. At first simple disposal cameras were my drug- at least until I was 16 and then moved on to my first 'real' camera, the Panasonic Lumix. Whenever I was photographing something I felt a sense of passion and purpose, though until college most of what I photographed was candid or landscape with the occasional fashion shoot. It wasn't until I went to college at Hallmark Institute of Photography that I really started using my inspiration, imagination and education to push my work to the next level.
Each image, to me, is built off of a premonition or dream I have rooted in the same feeling- passion. I put my passion and love into each shoot I do and strive to build a body of work that inspires others to put their all into the work that they do, so that maybe they too will experience 'Koi No Yokan.'
Any recommendations for an affordable wedding photographer in Houston? My fiance and I are getting married in late December, and are just now looking into photographers. We don't have a price range yet, but we are on a bit of a budget.
