I need your recommendations for a kennel or pet-sitter who specializes in senior dogs. I have a 15 year old mini schnauzer, Rudy, who has some special needs.
He suffers from vestibular disease which affects his balance; consequently, he cannot navigate stairs (up or down) and he is easily knocked over by other more exuberant dogs. Coupled with this, his eyesight is failing so he misjudges distances when it comes to stepping on and off curbs.
Despite these limitations, my boy doesn't suffer from any health problems. He enjoys two to three short walks a day in between naps. He is not on any medications and has a very healthy appetite of a diet we make ourselves. He is good around other dogs, does not run away and walks very well off and on leash.
The kind of place I'm looking for is one that will make Rudy as comfortable and safe as he would be at home. I won't consider a traditional kennel with chain link cages, concrete floors, or unsupervised common areas. So I'm looking to the vast experience and knowledge here in this group and hoping I will be able to find something suitable. Thanks in advance everyone!
