  Looking for a children’s dentist that is not a fluoride ‘pusher’ - as in if we are regular patients it should be on the charts and not a ‘surprise’ to the dental office and a bit of a fight each time we go in.. TIA Also recommendations for an orthodontist would be appreciated. (I don’t believe there are any more holistic based dentist in the area but maybe I’m wrong.)

  Fluoride makes your teeth more impermeable to bacteria, so less likely to get cavities. Makes teeth harder when the fluoride is absorbed. It's in our water in very small amounts ( city water, not well water) so that when children are drinking it, its absorbed and it makes their developing teeth stronger. Once the teeth are erupted , they can still absorb fluoride so that's why we do fluoride treatments twice a year when people come in for their checkups. Our office (SugarHillDentist.com) lets parents decide if they want fluoride for their children. We don't " push " it - but there are many benefits to it.
