‘Charlie And The Villas’ is a collective formed and fronted by songwriter Charlie Thomas who, originally from South London, now hails from Brighton in the South Coast of England. Initially undertook as a solo project it has since evolved to recognise the musicians and acts of collaboration involved in Charlie’s music. Taking their name from the street where members of the original ‘Villas’ line up lived, it was the result of one hung-over morning performance but has since stuck to define the group of characters involved.
The sound they create has become increasingly hard to categorise (for themselves at least) but has been pinned down as ‘Dreamy’ and as comforting as a ‘Nice warm cup of tea’. Charlie’s exploration of sound comes from a wide love of music, taking inspiration from influences such as Sampha, City and Colour, The Beatles, The Beach Boys and The Style Council amongst others. Building on from performances at The Great Escape And Brits Week in 2016, the band share a common passion for doing what they love and getting out of their retail jobs. Focusing on achieving this goal is the motivation that will push Charlie And The Villas... show more to leave 2017 with a whole bunch of new stories, friends, sounds and experiences.
