  So I'm having sciatic nerve problems that stem from a sports injury roughly ten years ago. Sprained my entire left leg from the knee to toes. The chiropractor up the road claims he can fix it, but he is *VERY* expensive and doesn't take insurance. I found a place in Manchester that is very reasonably priced, but it's acupuncture. Does anyone of you have any experience with this? I'd appreciate any useful input before I blow my money.

  I help people with this problem on a daily basis. For reasons that go far beyond the space appropriate for this post, I also do not take insurance. "VERY" expensive is a relative thing. The most expensive thing/service that you can purchase is the one that does not appropriately work. True, there are Medics who will charge your insurance 8 times what I charge with the end result of giving you a shot to cover up the pain. That is a bit like taking your car to a mechanic when the check engine light comes on and having him put duct tape over the light. It temporarily covers up the symptom but does not fix the problem. Acupuncture is closer to the point and again may well help to resolve the pain issues. Will it actually remove the irritation to the nerve (ie: the malposition of the spine which is adding pressure to the tissues around the nerve and ultimately the nerve that is running down the leg? Unlikely. Acupuncture in conjunction with Chiropractic care is generally a better answer if you want to go that route.
