About us
Hi there! My name is Christin Hume! I am so happy you are hear to read a little bit more about me, my visions, where I have been, and where I want to go!
I was born and raised in Northeast Texas. I grew up the youngest of three girls and loved every second of getting picked on. Throughout my life I switched between wanting to be like one sister or the other almost weekly. I had an internal battle of wanting to be something I was not created to be. This was a much deeper issue than I thought at the time. I also grew up kicking butt playing soccer and volleyball and LOVED being competitive and playing sports. I remember getting so giddy on game day every single time and being devastated when the game was over. Something about all the people simply coming together and bonding over a common interest truly inspired me. This is significant in shaping the rest of my life’s vision.
I continued playing sports through high school and then the exhilarating decision of deciding where to go to college was upon me. At that point in my high school career I knew two things….I want to go far away and I want to go somewhere that I don’t know anyone. Let’s just say I was totally over high school at that point. After one visit to Texas State University in San Marcos, TX I was certain that is where I was going to go that next Fall.
Texas State University changed my life.
I made friends. I lost friends.
I experienced love. I experienced hurt.
I excelled in school. I also did extremely bad in school.
I felt peace. I felt depression.
But most importantly I experienced God in a brand new tangible way that I had never experienced before in all my years being a Christian. I did not just hear about Jesus or read about Jesus, but I EXPERIENCED Jesus. You see the difference there? There was a shift that happened that went from a knowing of God to a being with God, being known by God, being completely engulfed in his perfect love. Needless to say this wrecked me. I was... show more
never the same after encountering this!
Now lets get to the romance. We all love a good romance story don’t we! Here is the story of my sincere, bold, and gracious husband and I…
From day one Chris has given me a tangible example of who our God is and how he loves. From day one (as cliche as this sounds) I knew my life was forever changed, forever impacted, and was never going to be the same.
Back in August, 2013 our good friend, Andy Swanson, told me that there was this guy named Chris that would be just perfect for me. I was skeptical. My thought at that time was simply…I am NOT going to be that person who is with someone with a name that is so similar to their significant other.
HA. On September 2, 2013 we went on a "blind double date" of some sort that entailed me laughing nervously…a lot…going to a sandwich shop where I proceeded to make a fool of myself attempting to eat a 5 1/2 inch tall BLT (not cute), more awkward laughs, and heading back to Andy's house.
…here is where it gets good…
We all go back inside and somehow Chris and I end up sitting across from one another in the living room while the others go outside and we start chatting about life, God, camp, and our summers. Then it got real. He proceeded to ask me the classic question "so what did God teach you while you were at camp this summer?" And me trying to rack my brain for anything super spiritual and profound to say, I stated "well…I learned how to have patience with people that really annoyed me." (real profound right…not)
So instead of just brushing over this statement, Chris decides to capitalize on the opportunity to teach me a lesson that forever changed the way I interact with others. Seriously…
He said, "Christin, that is really great that you learned how to have patience. But I think God has a bigger purpose for us when we are interacting with others. Patience is great for those "hard to get along with" people, but I believe God is calling us to something bigger than to just "put up with" those around us. He has called us to go out of our way to love those people even more intentionally."
Wow, just wow. Still fires me up to this day! Like…DANG! From day 1, Chris has not only spoken immense wisdom into my life but he has show me great love that only comes from One source.
Anyway…now I'll hop off my soapbox about how I get to marry the most incredible human ever…
So we proceeded to date that year while I was at Texas State University in San Marcos, TX and he was finishing up his degree at The University of Texas in Austin. I just was not a big fan of even being 30 miles away from him, so I made a decision to move to the incredible city of Austin for my senior year of college (along with a ton of other real crazy reasons). We continued dating and went through some real highs and some real lows. Let be honest, the year after graduating is weird and a bit lonely. So we learned how to make friends again and jump in a church that loves us SO well.
Fast forward to August 9 he proposed! It was a joyous day full of tears and lots of jumping up in down yelling "WE'RE GETTING MARRIED!!!!!" With the help of a lot on beautiful people he pulled of a proposal fit for us. He proposed in the same spot that many of out most heartfelt conversations happened.
We planned quickly! We got married on December 3rd, 2016! Yup, that’s right, less than a 4 month engagement and I would do it all over again in a heartbeat! The past moths of marriage have been just divine! Learning how to be loved, learning how to love deeper, and learning how to love others together! P.S. marriage is the best.
Knowing Chris has deeply changed me. He has brought out things in me that I didn’t even know existed. I have passions in me that he has encouraged me to pursue. He is a dreamer and he goes after his dreams! Seeing him chase his dreams has totally shifted the way I have thought all my life! (This is where my passion for photography comes in!)
PHOTOGRAPHY! So here I am today, chasing my dreams, my visions, my passions. God has deeply put in me that I need to pursue this vision of making time stand still with photography. To tell someone’s story through pictures. To write blogs, to make videos about revelations I have had, to impact people’s worlds through this gift I have been given. This is a gift, I am missioned to steward it well.
So what does this look like? Well that is what YOU are here for! I have a clear yet distant vision of what this can look like. I am holding this with open hands and I need YOU to use my gift to impact your life! So I am here for you! To capture moments of you with your family, you and your lover, your dog, your home, your life, your wedding, your adventurous spirit, your company, your life, your passions, your own visions, and your beauty! Let’s go on this journey together!
So that is me! Just a girl who loves others a whole lot and wants to bless others with the gift she’s been graciously given! show more
