About us

Island Arts Studio Ltd (IAS) is a social enterprise, business and community resource space and venue. Located in the heart of Herne Hill since 2002, our vision is to provide a quality local business and community space that is affordable, accessible, personal and professionally run. The space is available to hire for community and social events including exhibitions and rehearsals. It offers excellent facilities for meetings and training events.

We use the cowrie shell as our logo and many people have asked us why. The cowrie shell is perhaps the most recognizable of African cultural and spiritual symbols. It is an item that we wear when we wish to portray the message that we are conscious, spiritual and fighting for the upliftment of Africans worldwide. We take this further and promote the upliftment of all under-represented people in our economic and business world.
