About us
Rocky Creek Ranch is a family owned and operated cattle and hunting ranch nestled on the edge of the Texas Hill Country with roots dating back to the late 1800’s.
The Lord Family began training bird dogs for the public in the early 1960s. It all started with Dean Lord, Texas Field Trial Hall of Famer. Dean Lord was a pioneer in the American Field Trial, winning the National Field Championship four times, the Invitational Shooting Dog Championship six times, and the Texas Open Shooting Dog Championship twenty times. To this date Dean still holds the record for most wins of the Texas Open Shooting Dog Championship.
It is his legacy that has helped form Rocky Creek Ranch. In 2009, Rocky Creek Ranch was formed specializing in wild quail hunt in Central Texas. In the years to follow, the operation has expanded to include gun dog retriever training, upland and migratory game bird hunts, whitetail deer, Russian boars, and European style tower shoots.
