We have often discussed missing flavors from favorite restaurants. For me, it was Leo Ping's Pressed Duck. Middle Kingdom also did a great version and they're closed as well. I KNEW I could count on Kowloon in Dearborn for a fix as I can't seem to find it at any Ann Arbor Chinese restaurants anymore. I discovered today they're now closed.
Does ANYONE know of any restaurants in the A2 area that still serves pressed duck- boneless duck shredded and shaped in small loaves, then deep-fried. It's served sliced on a bed of lettuce with brown gravy and chopped nuts- usually peanuts, but sometime almonds- on top.
It seems to be primarily Midwestern as I could find only one place in SF's China Town that served it. The Chinese name's War Shoi Op, but when I've had that at various restaurants around the country, it rarely came close to the Ann Arbor/SE Michigan version. I'm asking here as it is a part of nostalgic Ann Arbor....sigh.
