Dental Hygienist or Dentist? Hi there! I have read past threads about dentist recommendations on here but not much regarding Dental Hygienists. As I understand, dental hygienists can run their own clinics here, is that right? I'm wondering if there's any benefit to seeing them over a dentist, is it more cost effective?
I'm new to Ottawa and due for my 6 monthly clean. I don't have insurance and when I called a dentist near me, they quoted me over $400 which seems insanely expensive. I was wondering if a dental hygienist is a more cost effective option? Is this price standard for dentists here? Any help is greatly appreciated!

I drove by a dental hygienist clinic on Woodroffe Avenue recently. May be worth contacting them. [Nu Age Dental Hygiene Clinic] (http://nuagedental.ca/index.html)
