Eye Doctor recommendations I need new glasses but I don’t have vision insurance. Nothing fancy, im just nearsighted and need glasses to see far away.
Does anyone recommend someone decent that’s not too expensive? Stanton Optical seems like a good deal but my dad used to go to them and says they do a bad job. Comments?

Stanton Optical will do the free eye exam with the purchase of 2 pairs of eyeglasses starting at $59.99. There's one at The Fountains and a new location just opened on Sunland Park Dr. If you don't mind walking across the border, many 'opticas' there will do a free eye exam and the prices for glasses are very affordable. Another option is [https://www.opternative.com](https://www.opternative.com) for $50-60 for a test
Being Frugal When Visiting the Eye Doctor?? I [19F] have been wearing glasses for 5 years now. I've been thinking about contacts for awhile, but I haven't really had the funds. Anybody have any recommendations for where to go for an eye exam, contact fitting, etc. or some frugal tips? I have insurance but they only cover me once a year and it hasn't been a year since I've been to my regular optometrist.
Tl;dr: Trying to condense my costs for contacts. What do I do?

Order from a Canadian company. They don't need a prescription. You can also use https://www.opternative.com/ to get a discount prescription if you really want one. It might be BS but it's useful if you know what you want.
Affordable optometrists without insurance? I didn't actually opt into my company's optometrist plan this year ( and yes, I will next year), but I'd like to have an eye examination so I can see about decorative lenses. Does anyone have any recommendations for optometrists or what they might charge for an appointment without insurance?

[Opternative](https://www.opternative.com) - you don't even have to leave home to do the exam.
Any recommendations for an Optometrist between Rogers Park and Park Ridge?

Www.opternative.com for simple petscription stuff. Full disclosure. I know the people working on the website, local Chicago people, and they are trying to do something cool.
