  Building in Alaska? Wasilla area. Buying land and planning on building . What is the best route to go. We have been looking at cabin kits , or prefab homes . Does anybody know what the pre fab homes start at out in that area? We are wanting something around 1000 sq ft. What material would you recommend for building a house out in Alaska. I’ve read that log cabins last 30-50 years we were kind of wanting something a little more permanent . Hopefully someone has a little more knowledge then us and can help TIA.

  Cold Climate Construction Does anyone know of websites or sub- reddits dedicated to building in the climate we live in? I'm specifically looking for information/advice on foundations, waterproofing and building materials that are more suited to the freezing and thawing that happens here in Fairbanks.
