Good source for structural steel? I'm going to weld up a stair stringer After pricing my project out (a steep mono-stringer to get up to my roof) I'm thinking it might be a lot cheaper to buy a welder, learn to weld, and do it myself. A quote for $2500, then not returning my calls is a little too far for me to stretch, and I'm always willing to learn a new skill. I'm wondering if anybody knows a good place to get an I-beam or a rectangular box beam, some plate, some angle iron, etc.
Or, does anyone know of a shop that I could join that might have the equipment I need to do it (welders, metal bandsaw, grinders, etc).
Alternately, does anyone here do any welding / fabricating on the side and want to make some money? It shouldn't be too hard, but the tolerances are tight.

[Fazios](http://metals.shopjfi.com/) in Glassboro for the metal supply. [The Sculpture Gym](http://philadelphiasculpturegym.com/) for learning how to weld and access to the equipment.
