Recommended Contractors for Foundation/Pier Work? I'm buying a wooden Victorian farmhouse ca. 1900. (What's up, Barton Heights.) The construction techniques were a little wonky in that era: load-bearing was not continuous to the foundation, with a lot of distribution of weight across beams in the floors.
I need to get some broken beams replaced and some piers rebuilt in the crawl space, hopefully jacking up the floor to be more or less level again before I start redoing the plaster walls. I'll be ripping up the wood floors myself to provide standing access to the crawl space.
Does anyone know of reputable contractors who could handle this sort of work?
