Trouble finding instructor! Firstly, I live in Midland Texas. It's an oil field town and I haven't found anybody who lives here that teaches violin, even at a basic level.
A little background - I used to play Double bass in middle school and high school, but I'd always wanted to play the violin. Fastforward 6 years and I'd been on the fence about buying one for a long long time, but I finally pulled the trigger, and I couldn't be happier! Hours and hours learning how to tune it, breaking strings, redoing strings and just finding where to put my fingers has been so much fun, as I'm sure you all know!
I would like a teacher though, so I don't pick up on bad habits, but unfortunately, it seems to be I'll just have to do it online. What do y'all think about figuring it out on my own?
Any and all feedback is greatly appreciated!

Do you know there's a Midland-Odessa Orchestra? http://www.mosc.org/musicians/orchestra/ They do about 9 concerts per year. You could still hit the Broadway or Starwars concert this year. These guys are the leading violinists, but there are two whole sections of area violinists, apparently. (or people who drive long distances to make $65-80 per service) http://www.mosc.org/musicians/john-madura.htmlhttp://www.mosc.org/musicians/alex-norris.html
