Dental Insurance can deny Dentures? Location: MI, US
My mother-in-law was a smoker for 30 years. Thankfully, she's nearly 2 years without cigarettes. However, it's taken some tolls. She has to have some teeth pulled and it's enough that the dentist is advising implants or dentures. The insurance company is claiming that they don't have to cover Dentures or Implants.
I'm not the one making the calls, but when it comes to insurance, my arguments have a track record of a lot of "nuh-uh"'s, and "because I said so"'s. So it's safe to say I'm pretty outside my element.
I really want to help the situation however I can and I'm curious if anyone can help me understand how this could be possible, or if anyone has successfully made it through a similar situation? If so, how would you recommend communicating to the insurance provider that this is a situation they need to resolve? Pretty in the dark so any help's appreciated!

Seeking referral for a decent self pay dentist Hi - Does anyone know of a dentist in this area that has decent pricing on dental services for a family without dental insurance? Is there anyone friendly to self pay customers?
