Water damage in basement bathroom - who do we contact? A month back, we came home to see water slowly dripping down the frame of our basement bathroom door. It stopped after a few hours, but we called a plumber. He looked over the area and said it could be a number of things, but probably not plumbing. He said he could open up the ceiling, but it may not identify the issue. We opted to wait and see if it happened again. We noticed today that there's a very irregular dripping noise on the bathroom ceiling. There's a discoloration along the door frame (water damage). This coincides with a snow melt outside; there was a melt the last time this happened...so it could be the roof, or the foundation - I don't know. Who do we contact to identify, stop, and fix the water damage? A contractor? A water damage person? Or is there someone else? We want to get this fixed before more damage is done, but don't want to get fleeced.
