  Could someone please post me info that a mother should know before vaccinating her child? I have looked before and have found nothing, which seemed vary suspicious to me when trying to research this topic for a school project (all I found was biased info, as it seems like something is being covered up, if that makes any sense) Here's some background (if it helps any): My son had a seizure after getting his four month shots (and no, he has no neurological issues known). They said it was normal and nothing to worry about. My son was progressing normally, and then stopped talking properly, amount other things (I do suspect autism or possibly aspergers, but no one will give me any answers). I have autoimmune issues and although my daughter has had shots so far (she missed her 6 month appointment). I would like to find some sources to research, but feel as if I have no choice but to vaccinate. The pediatrician had called cps on me after seeking helping for my daughter's lip and tongue tie (long story short but I was kindly trying to tell her how badly it needed fixed, and how her tone changed immediately at her four month appt after finally telling her that my daughter is starving because she cannot drink out of a bottle at all). So basically I am worried on refusing any medical care because of this. My son's preschool has also wanted his shot records. Is it mandatory that my children have their shots? Do I have any options in this matter or do they basically have all control. I have been told that it could be considered medical neglect for not following doctors orders. I am sorry for writing such a long post but really do not want my children's immune systems being altered when they are already predisposed to the diseases that both I and my husband have. Any info would be greatly appreciated please :)

  I often get messages from parents asking for help finding a pediatrician for their unvaccinated child. My advice is always along these lines: First, try to find a local parenting group that is likely to have some non-vaccinating or selective vaccinating families (for example, attachment parenting, holistic parenting, natural parenting groups) and ask for doctor recommendations on their email list or facebook page. Secondly, realize that family doctors tend to be a bit more open-minded than pediatricians - peds are pressured by the APA to vaccinate and vaccines comprise a large part of their income. Thirdly, turn to alternative primary care providers like naturopathic doctors and chiropractors who may not be covered by your insurance but are well worth their weight in gold (and some will offer sliding scale fees or payment plans if you mention your financial need).
