La Quinta's allow dogs and we stayed in them as we drive cross country with our yellow lab a few years back. Reasonably priced and clean. However, we have considered plans to rent a pet-friendly cabin in Blue Ridge Georgia for the first week in August. Sounds silly but would love some "tips" for not only the 12 hour trip with 3 kids and a 7 month old pup but also for a trip to the mountains that my kids have never seen. Any ideas on places to stay, hikes, waterfalls, lake trips are appreciated - especially puppy and kid friendly ( ages 12, 10, 8 ). And anything that may maintain my sanity will get extra credit points!Kathy B. replied:I'm going to embark on a similar adventure in September to Wyoming with a human friend and my LIbby. My dog is 1 1/2 years old, so easier than a pup. I'm also renting a cabin, and it will be a looooooong trip. I plan to take longer to get there, scheduling stops every 2 hours so we all can stretch our legs. I also hope to make it a good 20-30 minute walk so the dog is tired out a bit before loading back up again.
