  I need help, I have been using Claessens double primed type 13 canvas for the last 8+ years and they have changed their product. So their portrait canvas is good for landscapes or something with texture not portraits. Can anyone recommend a comparable linen. I have been told Raphael is good but it is a bit too expensive.

  I highly recommend A.E. Art Canvas in nyc used by some top portrait artists today. Call and ask for Angel and tell him what you like and he'll send you some samples you can test. 800-654-9452. I have used his linens for years. Tell him to double check roll before he mails though. I use some leftover Claessesns for some landscapes, but did not like the slickness of the 13 dp for larger portrait pieces. Maybe I got a bad roll it, but this was a while back.
