  Hello fellow MTs! I need some advice. Soon I will be starting my own massage practice out of a salon. I will be a self-contractor so all of the profits will go directly to me and I pay a percentage each month to the business owner for rent. I am wondering what is the best method for bookkeeping. Can I learn it on my own, should I hire my account to do so, or is there an easier method? I am really good with numbers but have never had my own business so I definitely do not want to have inaccurate accounts. Please keep in mind that I just bought a house so money is tight.   Nicole - you should totally look into www.bodyworkbuddy.com - it keeps track of everything - income, expenses (supplies, equipment, bills, etc). It's nice because it also offers online scheduling (but you don't have to use it) - When you have a scheduled appt, you just turn it into a "completed" session by entering in payment info (and notes on the session if you'd like), and then that gets put into your "income" It's $35/month (I think of it as the cost of a half hour massage) - and you can write off that $35/month anyway! They have a free 15 day trial, and one of the owners is also a massage therapist and super helpful (also small town midwest, they are out of Michigan!)
