  Ok folks, here's a question. I know massage is not completely contraindicated during chemo. I personally am not certified either. But there is a post on my esty group regarding what a client currently undergoing chemo can receive. They are completely discounting ALL services except mani/pedi, which seems extreme. Obviously, a non-certified individual wouldn't be a great choice for FBSM but other services?

  I'd also recommend checking out www.TracyWalton.com, Tracy Walton. I took the Oncology Massage intensive in Eau Claire, WI this summer and had an excellent experience. Check out their schedule, as they are based out of Boston, but the instructors travel. There is an intensive in Minneapolis (Blaine), MN in November ... if that isn't too far for you to travel.   Hello! Could anyone please recommend articles on massage indications/contraindications after an axillary or inguinal lymph node dissection? My school did not offer me any evidence based information on contraindications, just out instructors stating that it was contraindicated to perform massage (of any kind) to the extremity that had lymph node dissection involvement. I would appreciate any literature/studies to review. Thank You!

  Hi Kaye! Thanks for writing. Our current S4OM recognized instructors tend to teach regionally (Pacific Northwest, California, southwest and northeast, midwest) with a few exceptions. There is definitely a concentration on the east and west coasts. Tracy Walton (www.tracywalton.com) sometimes travels to Florida, Gayle MacDonald (www.medicinehands.com) may also and I (www.lighthold.org) am planning a few courses in Florida next year, but the dates are not yet set. I know Tracy and I both have email newsletters to which you can subscribe (from our websites) to receive updates about new course dates. Let us know what other questions we can answer for you!
