Right, I'm looking to buy a decent SLR or similar camera. Something that is going to last a long time and take really good photos. Can anyone recommend anything?

http://www.procamerashop.co.uk/ I'm contemplating a canon. you need to think about your requirements i.e video, additional lenses if you can afford them, is it just for general hols or do you want something that does sports or something like that. I'm goin maybe for a canon 700 d but still shopping around! Doing some research defo helps cuz then you have to make yourself think what you want it for and it'll help justify your budget.
Can anyone recommend a decent DSLR camera that isn't going to require a lottery win to buy?

Nev, check out procamerashop.co.uk they are all grey imports but with the saving they worth the slight risk. Check out the cannon 60 d on there. Very clean high iso so good in low light. Also decent build quality, better than the canon xxxD series. Good advice so far from a lot of people re lenses, on that site you can pick up a sigma 30 mm f1.4 for quite cheap, good low light and a neutral focal length (appears neither zoomed or wide on the 60 d), also check out the tokina 11-16 mm f2.8, it's pretty good in low light and nice and wide, will allow you to get in amongst the action and great shots that will stand out. Get an off camera flash, makes so much difference.
Could anyone advise of good lens for DSLR for wildlife photography? A friend is asking and as I don't do wildlife can't really advise. One or two choices would be helpful.
