  Help is needed near Anna, IL A friend of mine was contacted by a woman who has a horse that she wants someone to take. It is at a home which the woman has abandoned and when my friend drove by to check on the horse to find him in a pasture with no food, shelter, or water. There was also a dog running around matted and in bad shape but not as bad as the horse. She also had in some sort of enclosure geese. He is trying to get in touch with the woman and get more information as to what she may have in the home :-( My friend has an enclosure to foster the horse but cannot afford the vet to come out and evaluate the horse before putting it with their own healthy horses. Does anyone know of a rescue that can help out here. The temperature today is around 100* in the area, which is Southern IL My friend is trying to get water to the horse now. I have asked for pics and will post ASAP. Not sure if there is even an animal control in this area. ANY ideas please let me know. THANK YOU!!

  I gave the information yesterday to have them contact Union County Animal Control, Officer waited for a call, no one has made a report of this situation. ACO needs a location if this is in fact Union County or they cant investigate this. UCAC could check on the matter, no one will be able to just remove the animals from the property without the owners consent or investigation with citations and warnings and well being checks. If owner surrenders however, UCAC can and does take farm animals immediately. That would remove the animals from their situation right away. UCAC is aware of the post, but no calls, names, address or phone number given to them yet. If this is a matter that needs attention, Union County Animal Control (618) 833-4915 and leave a message with reason for calling, name and return number.
