Has anyone found the best way to exit a Texas Apartment Association lease? Attorney recommendations? We have had nothing but problems since we moved to our new apartment. Recently there has been a string of burglaries and a scary run-in with someone trespassing in our building. The new management company just cut the security patrol which only makes it worse. My girlfriend is scared to stay here until our lease is up in 5 months.
Before I just hire an attorney I figured I would check with reddit to see if anyone has had luck terminating their lease. Like many companies our building uses the standard TAA lease document. Also if anyone has an attorney they can recommend please let me know.
Sorry I can't actually post the name of my building because this post would be a lease violation.

You should definitely consult an attorney and maybe even check out the Texas Tenants Union to see if they can give you any advice as well: http://www.txtenants.org/. In the past, it seems that you are bound by your contract with them unless you get actually broken into or have to file a police report. I'm not an attorney though, so I am not 100% sure.
Who do I contact about renters rights ? My ceiling fell in and our landlord dont want to fix it but wants rent ? Help please

Mail a certified letter to them demanding that the repair is completed. Return receipt requested. Also visit the Texas Tenants Union at www.txtenants.org
Does anyone know??? If my apartment is not able to repair the A/C within 7 days, can I break the lease? It's been out since yesterday and the property manager said it would not be repaired until early next week.
