I am a parent of a special needs child as well as the character development chair of the Greater Lewisville Special ED PTSA. I'm looking to fill a programming opportunity to discuss personal safety for our teens/adults who have ASD or other developmental disabilities.
Our first point of reference is Be Safe, the Movie, www.besafethemovie.com. I'm looking for a police officer, developmental expert, community speaker, etc., who has some talking points about this topic. They don't necessarily have to be a certified Be Safe instructor, but boy that would be great!
I've already talked to the FM Crime Prevention Officer, Buck, who wasn't readily aware of anyone who has talking points on this topic, but I will follow-up with him next week after he's had time to discuss with his fellow officers.
Does anyone know of someone willing and able to speak on this topic to our community of children (who will eventually be adults, living in FM) and parents? Please, any suggestion or lead would be helpful!
