  As others have suggested,ALWAYS call the State Hotline, Childline, at 1-800-932-0313. This will ensure that the case is given a registered number and DHS will be forced to investigate. DHS has been notorious for failing in its duties. As a licensed social worker, I've personally been involved in reporting serious physical abuse to a caseworker in open case and she didn't even bother to come see the damage to the tiny boy. DHS can't be trusted to do their job so you MUST call Childline every time.
