Where are you from and how did you get into this business?
I'm from STL, MO and have always been "artsy"! I was actually a forensic investigator for 10 years out of college and then decided it was time to paint pretty pictures on walls, faces, canvases & make kids smile! My art career actually started when I took crayons to moms kitchen wall as a kid!
Describe a typical work day for you?
Part of what I love about my work is that there is no typical/routine day! My days vary based on whether I'm face painting, teaching a canvas painting party, doing a mural or other fun project! No two days are ever the same and I love that about my career! It keeps things interesting and keeps me on my toes and always being creative and trying new things!
From where do you draw your enthusiasm and inspiration for the job?
Nothing makes me smile more than holding up a mirror to a kids face after I'm done face painting for them and seeing a huge grin or giggle come across their face! I also LOVE teaching a painting class to someone who says they have absolutely no artistic talent/have never painted before and see them pleased and ready to hang their work of art on the wall at home after completing one of my classes!
How can a customer ensure that they receive the best possible service from you?
COMMUNICATION is always key! I always discuss my clients wishes before any event or project to ensure they get what they are hoping for and are happy with the results!
What has been your most memorable experience on the job?
There have been several occasions when I face painted for someone and after the fact, their parents came up to me and told me that their child was on the spectrum or had special needs and never lets anyone get that close to them and how thrilled they are by the experience!
