We took my dog to Oradell and they did every possible thing to save her life. It worked. She is back to her normal dog self. Oradell is quite expensive, but they let us know right up front the estimated cost and kept to it. The hospital staff are amazingly efficient and compassionate and the hospital is very well equipped and very clean.

  OH! Speaking of out of state. If you have access to a car and can find a vet you trust, it's generally MUCH MUCH EXPONENTIALLY cheaper to go to a vet in the 'burbs. I live right by the GWB and a lot of my dog owning friends in my 'hood take their dogs to New Jersey. There's a clinic on River Road in Edgewater that is really good. And there's an animal hospital, Oradell, a little further out in Paramus that is supposed to be outstanding. There's a dog walker a couple of buildings over who raves about it and sends all his clients' dogs there. http://oradell.com/

  Anonymous Went in with a healthy 5 year old cat for some minor stomach problem, came back out with an empty carrier. They over-hydrated my cat to the point of heart failure, twisted my arm into getting tests done that they knew I couldn't afford (they want you to sign up for a credit account), and seemed generally ignorant as to what was even going on with my cat. They first said that because I brought him in late and an ultrasound technician wasn't on duty (24 hour animal hospital doesn't have this after hours service....???), I could bring the cat back later the next afternoon. Suddenly the tone changed to "but if you do that, he might die, so you'd better leave him here." Bullied into leaving my cat, told I would be killing my cat unless I let them take care of him overnight even though they didn't even know what was wrong with him. Wrote a letter to the director of the hospital disputing the bill, detailing the horrid care my cat received. I asked them to respond only in writing so I would have proof of what they said. They ignored my request. The only reason I give two stars for service is for the one vet that had to help us put down our poor kitty after they drove him into heart failure. She was a great comfort, especially considering she had to clean up the mess of the previous vet.

  Please add: Oradell Animal Hospital, 580 Winters Avenue, Paramus. Dr. Curt Boren and Dr. Maggie Winter -- both are outstanding rabbit veterinarians. Oradell is a 24 hour emergency facility in Bergen County, NJ.
