  Need some quick advice from my car mechanic friends. Had (another) recall on my jeep that they needed to fix so I asked them if they would go ahead and change two of my headlights while it was there. They called me after EIGHT hours and said it would cost me $400+ dollars to get them replaced/fixed because of a "weak wire connection" and a bad bulb holder... Then when I said no they said it would be $108 for "checking" all of that (just my lights!) for me. Is this right?!?!

  Rule of thumb. If you go into the dealer for recall work never ask for anything extra. They will always be a diagnostic charge regardless if you ask for them to check it out or replace it. If you just wanted bulbs replaced. Either go to a small shop or look on YouTube about how to replace them. The whole thing with dealers are if you go back for anything, warranty, free inspections or anything like that. That is what they want so they can pick it over and "find" something wrong. That's how dealers make money. They don't make much profit off of sales they make most of it off of you coming back and off of services.
