  Lots of great advice above. Your local dealer would be a good alternative but as someone here said: it never hurts to learn. There are no Ural dealers in the north of Sweden so up here it's basically learn or sell. They're not too hard to understand once you've gotten hold of all of the documentation you need (bear in mind this is coming from someone who isn't normally comfortable taking anything apart). I'm doing a complete rebuild myself and it seems to be going fine. I learn something new every day. Agreed, sometimes I learn by making mistakes, breaking something, bleeding, swearing and generally making a fool of myself My guess is a wonky alternator with a burned out diode or two stealing juice. Changing the alternator on mine this week (hopefully) so if you decide to do this yourself I can let you in on any pitfalls to avoid. I've ordered from russiangarage.com a few times now and it seems stable as long as you don't mind the wait. Good luck and about the whole 'I'm not worthy to ride a Ural'-thing. You're in good company here. This digital discussion board is for everyone from someone just considering to buy an Ural to those who have built, rebuilt and modified 'em for years.
